The clients wanted to replace their existing overgrown, invasive front yard plantings with a colorful, exciting, plant-rich (and deer resistant) entry garden, and to remediate drainage issues. We added a mix of eclectic trees, perennials, and shrubs, with rich foliage colors and textures and staggered blooming periods, to create a lush, multi-season garden. Also – a mixed dwarf blueberry “hedge.” Drainage on the side of the house was tackled by adjusting the slopes, and adding a boulder wall with hidden drainage. At the base of the driveway, a rain garden was added to create a temporal pool during storm events.
